Leather Beds at Pre-VAT Price

Richmond King Size Faux Leather Bed £399.99

The market for leather beds is highly competitive. This competitiveness has been exacerbated by the VAT rise that came into force on 4th January. So far few bed retailers have upped their prices to take account of the rise.

The problem is especially difficult when with price points such as £199.99, £299.99 and £399.99. Passing on the 2.13% increase would for example see the retail price rise to a nonsensical £408.50.

The leather bed shown above is a Time Living Richmond 5ft kingsize faux leather bed. It is a Chesterfield sleigh leather bed. The price is still £399.99 including the VAT increase.

Faux Leather Beds

Kenton Super Kingsize Faux Leather Bed
The UK economy remains in the doldrums and faux leather beds can be an inexpensive option. People buy leather beds for the look of luxury. By definition luxury means expensive. However, there is a lower cost alternative to a genuine leather bed - the faux leather bed. Faux leather beds create almost the same impression as a real leather bed but at much lower prices.

The bed shown above is a Kenton super kingsize faux leather bed costing around £500 in the UK. A similar sized bed made from real leather would cost almost double. Given the pressure on household budgets you can see the advantage of a lower cost alternative.
